I love stories.

I love them all. The ones we write. The ones we watch. The ones we tell our friends. The ones brands build around themselves. The ones that make you laugh, make you uncomfortable, and make you feel seen. I love stories that stick with you long after they’re over.

I’m Nakayla McConnaughey—a writer, communicator, and creative interested in the space where stories and audiences meet. I studied Creative Writing and Advertising & Public Relations at UNC-Chapel Hill, where I wrote fiction, built digital experiences, and learned a lot about what makes people care.

My work moves between words, ideas, and audiences—from editorial and fiction to social media, communications, branding, and digital strategy.

At the center of all of it is the same question: How do you make someone care?
